Bryon Crowson Memorial Award

The SAIT community join Bryon’s family and friends in mourning his sudden and unexpected death from sudden cardiac arrest. Bryon was a loving family man; a husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. On top of all that, he was an extremely passionate and talented Journeyman B-pressure welder and SAIT alumni.

Bryon was one-of-a-kind. He had a wild soul but also enjoyed the simple things in life. He was a good man who loved his life and lived it to the fullest. He was always down for an adventure, whether it was climbing a mountain, going for a drive, or taking a neighborhood walk with his wife and son to get a slurpee. Bry had a huge heart; He was the guy that would help a stranger, put in an honest day’s work, and he always kept his word. Everyone who knew him felt his genuine kindness.

In addition to being a devoted family man, Bryon lived and breathed metal and fabricating. Bryon came from a family of Journeyman welders, but he was proudly the first B-pressure welder in his family. He loved welding, learning, and creating custom one-of-a-kind masterpieces. He was a continuous learner—always brainstorming how to improve a technique or process, and constantly getting new certifications.

Bryon lives on through his beautiful wife Steph, handsome son Levi, parents Barb and Ernie, sister Lisa, brother Derrek, grandma Barbara, Steph’s family and all his nieces, nephew, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

His family have made it a priority to make sure his memory is kept alive and he is not forgotten. In honor of him, his wife, parents, brother and sister have set up an annual scholarship in his memory. It is called the Bryon Crowson Memorial Scholarship, registered under the Welding Apprentice section of SAIT’s student awards.

Bryon loved learning and going to college. He completed his schooling and proudly passed along tricks of the trade. This scholarship will give that same chance to someone else.

Please consider a contribution to this fund in Bryon’s memory, which will help future apprentice welders for years to come.

Although the world is less bright without Bryon’s beautiful spark, his laughter, love and presence will always be remembered and cherished in our hearts. His wife Steph and extended family ask friends and family to raise a glass and continue to share stories of Bryon to celebrate him.

With love,

The Crowson & Ho Family
