On August 30, 2014
the Sartorelli family, Calgary EMS, Alberta Health Services, the City of Calgary
and Province of Alberta lost a great man, someone who consistently put the
needs of others ahead of his own, someone who took pride in every interaction
he had with every patient, a compassionate practitioner and a passionate
educator, a loving father, grandfather and husband. For over 32 years Dave
faithfully served the people of Calgary, 20 of those years spent in the
downtown core. Dave treated every patient with the utmost respect and dignity,
he always put his patients first. Throughout his career Dave was also an
educator, a dynamic instructor who was passionate about teaching the Paramedics
of tomorrow.
In his memory the
David Sartorelli Memorial Endowment Fund has been established to provide
funding to students in S.A.I.T.’s Emergency Medical Technology - Paramedic
Program. Scholarships will be awarded to students enrolled in their 3rd
semester who demonstrate academic achievement (20%), financial need (35%) and
have shown compassion to patients and a passion for the profession (45%).
