Bob Bruce was an industry leader and started his career in the Oil and Gas sector as a purchasing agent for Commonwealth Drilling. After returning to Calgary in 1962, Bob advanced in his career moving to sales with Comanche Drilling. Bob then started his first drilling company, Capri Drilling. This was followed by Brimstone Drilling and Command Drilling from where he retired in 2001. Bob was an industry leader with various innovative ideas that subsequently became industry standards.
The Robert S. Bruce award will be given to a student in the Petroleum Engineering Technology program in the MacPhail School of Energy. Student recipients will be selected based on financial need, academic achievement, and leadership with preference for a student from Alberta with previous experience in the Petroleum industry.
