2020 National Geomatics Competition

The purpose of this campaign is to send a team of 2nd year students who are studying Geomatics Engineering Technology (GNT) at SAIT to compete at a special annual event called the National Geomatics Competition (NGC) in February 2020. This year is the third time this competition is held and it will be at the University of Waterloo, Ontario. The National Geomatics Competition (NGC) is an annual student-led competition based in the field of Geomatics. Skilled students across Canada come together to participate in the competition at a selected academic institution and expand their network from other colleges/universities and companies involved in the field. The competition showcases bright minds, and innovative thinking from the participants and their academic training from their respective institutions. Ultimately, the competition has served as a hub for talented undergraduate students and companies to come together, sharing their passion and experience(s) in the field of Geomatics. Therefore, the NGC 2020 is a wonderful opportunity for our SAIT team to build national connections in the Geomatics industry. The SAIT GNT students are competing in this competition as representatives of both SAIT and the Calgary Geomatics community, and they are enthusiastic to showcase the skills that our curriculum have taught them.

Who We Are

We are geomatics students studying at SAIT that are hoping to compete in the third National Geomatics Competition on February 22nd in Waterloo, Ontario.

What We’re Doing

The NGC 2020 is a competition between student-led teams of three. The teams are given a geomatics-related problem and 6 hours to come up with a solution that will be judged by a panel of industry professionals. The purpose of this competition is allow contestants an opportunity to represent their geomatics faculty, showcase knowledge, and network on a national level.

Why Are We Doing This?

Besides providing a worthy intellectual challenge the NGC 2020 is an excellent way for teams to build connections within the geomatics industry. In addition to advancing our careers we are eager to represent SAIT’s geomatics department on a national level.
