Diagnostic Imaging - Copenhagen Trip

About the crowdfunding project:

We are a mixed group of Diagnostic Imaging students who will be travelling together to Copenhagen, Denmark on a ten day study abroad trip. During our time we will be spending multiple days in a diagnostic clinical setting with DI professionals. We will receive first-hand experience in the equivalent of our profession within a completely different cultural setting. We will also be spending time at the University of Copenhagen and at Copenhagen’s Medical Museion. This will allow us to see what it is like being a student in Denmark, as well as a chance to see some interesting examples and specimens of things which we may encounter in our career. Of course, we will also be allowed time on our evenings and weekend to tour and see all that Copenhagen has to offer. We are all very excited to be given this opportunity and cannot wait to embark on this adventure.

Meet the Team:

Hello! My name is Riscann and I am a Nuclear Medicine Technology student here at SAIT. What I hope to learn from this opportunity in Denmark is a new perspective about my chosen field and how they apply the same knowledge in a different country. Practices and patient care techniques may be different so having the opportunity to experience and learn a new culture would help me bring back new skills I can apply to my practice here which would help enhance my ability to provide outstanding care to my patients.

Hey there! My name is Erika and I am a second year Medical Radiologic Technologist from SAIT. I am taking part in the DI Study Abroad Tour because it offers an opportunity of immense growth, both personally and professionally. I was to immerse myself in the culture and observe the healthcare providers workflow, interaction with patients, and experience the innovative practices that they have. After the Tour I hope to implement what I have learned in Denmark to my practice in Canada from interaction with patients, to attempting to implement what I can of the innovation that I experienced.

My name is Christine and I am a second year DMS (Diagnostic Medical Sonography) student at SAIT. I was born and raised in rural Saskatchewan and spent many years observing the medical system while accompanying family members. This influenced me to become passionate for healthcare and diagnostics, and I eventually moved to Calgary to pursue Sonography. My hope for this trip is to meet and make relationships with fellow diagnostic imaging professionals from afar, as well as learn new ideas to further develop my technical skills and patient care.

Hi, I'm Siobhan. I'm a second year nuclear medicine student, and I'm loving practicum. I've learned so much already, and I'm excited to learn more about newer imaging technologies we don't have in Canada yet during the Denmark trip. When I'm not studying I like to cook and spend time with my cat.

My name is Kali and I am a second year Medical Radiologic Technology student. I am hoping to expand my knowledge of diagnostic imaging worldwide as I am interested in incorporating travel into my career in hopes of joining the Mercy Ship one day and possibly working outside of Canada. We are hoping to raise a total of $1800 to allow each of us $300. This will be going towards our flights, accommodations, inner-city transit, and meals.
