2020 SAIT Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race

About the Team:

SAIT GNCTR is a team of SAIT students working together to design and fabricate an incredible 300lb toboggan to race at the 2020 Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race. This year we are hoping to get back on top with some new creative ideas.

This years GNCTR is held in the Canada’s concrete jungle, Toronto. Our team consists of thirty 1st-4th year engineering students from several programs at SAIT. This year’s team includes students from Civil Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology and Construction Project Management. This project is a collaboration between these four SAIT programs.

Throughout the semester we are combining our problem solving, communication, and project management skills to design and fabricate an innovative sled to take to the event. Every team member has contributed time and effort into making our toboggan one that is aimed impress the judges, competitors, and industry sponsors with our innovative and sustainable ideas.

Why Do We Do This?

We believe it is important for engineering students to transfer their technical and theoretical skills obtained in the classroom to a real-life experience. It also allows for like minded individuals to gather and create bonds that last a lifetime.

How Can You Help?

Donations from people like you is what makes it possible for our team to succeed.

With your support we get the opportunity to compete with other reputable Universities and establish SAIT amongst the greats.

Our total budget is roughly $50,000, but we are getting a helping hand from some corporate sponsors. However, we still need your help! Our goal is to raise $12,000 through ordinary people just like you. Your donations are desperately needed to purchase key components for our sled, and to get our team to Toronto and back!
