National Geomatics Competition 2018

Who We Are

We are a group of students studying geomatics engineering technologies at SAIT, and are anticipating competing in the first annual National Geomatics Competition in February of 2018 in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

What We’re Doing
The purpose of this event is to bring together both students with a passion for geomatics and those who are in the industry to network, as well as to encourage contestants to showcase their knowledge and skill sets. Teams will be presented with a geomatics-related challenge and are given 6 hours to find a solution, which will then be presented to a panel of judges consisting of industry professionals. The following day, the participants will engage in a conference at the Fredericton Convention Center, where sponsors, delegates, and students of UNB can network.

Why Are We Doing This?
NGC 2018 is a wonderful opportunity for our teams to build national connections in the geomatics industry. We are competing in this competition as representatives of both SAIT and the Calgary geomatics community, and we are enthusiastic to showcase the skills that our curriculums have taught us.

How You Can Help
Our group is hoping to raise $4,000. This will help us cover some of the projects costs - which amount to $8,325 to help allocate the costs of flights and delegate fees. Your contribution to this will help us partake in this innovative and exciting opportunity, as well as represent the SAIT community at a national level.
