SAIT Supernovas, an innovative team of engineering students from the Southern Alberta institute of Technology (SAIT). Participating in the upcoming Canadian Reduced Gravity Experiment Challenge (CAN-RGX) competition, hosted by SEDS (Students for the Exploration and Development of Space) in collaboration with the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) and the National Research Council (NRC). The competition is scheduled for the first week of August 2024 at the Montreal Saint-Hubert Longueuil Airport, Quebec.
As the first technical institute or non-university team accepted to participate in this competition, our ambitious aim is to design and build an electrically powered drone utilizing ionic propulsion and mechanical gyroscopic stability. This unique approach aims to achieve controlled maneuverability in conditions conducive to outer space.
Your support will provide us with an outstanding opportunity to engage and support future SAIT graduates venturing into the world of space engineering. As well as a catalyst in facilitating national scientific and technological advancements and research within the Canadian space sector.
We are hoping to raise $2500 to cover essential expenses such as transportation and accommodation for this project. Your support is integral to the success of the SAIT Supernovas, allowing us to compete on par with renowned Canadian universities and enhancing the progression and quality of SAIT's student-led extracurricular endeavors; all while helping contribute to student-led research and innovation pertaining to the Canadian space sector. Your donation will not only propel our team's aspirations but also cements a meaningful partnership in fostering innovation. Donations made are tax deductible – SAIT will provide official receipts to donors when funds are received. An anonymous donor has generously offered to match all donations on or before May 8, 2024
