Who We Are
The SAIT Film and Video Production program has been training highly sought after, skilled, talented, and creative professionals for decades. Almost nothing is filmed in Alberta without a SAIT alumni involved. This year, the class of 2024 will go out and continue that legacy of excellence. We have spent two years learning and honing our skills which we applied to a wide range of interesting and unique student film projects. Commercials, music videos, documentaries, dramas, and comedies, we’ve done it all. The Motion Media Society is the program’s brand new student club dedicated to connecting all SAIT students to the broader film community. Over the last two semesters, the Motion Media Society has held a number of guest speaker events and showcases. Now it’s time for us to show that same community what we can do. What We Do
The Motion Media Society is proud to be hosting this year’s end of the year screening of everything the graduating class has created over the last year. Each student has contributed to these amazing projects, and we want to make sure that everyone gets the recognition they deserve. And so, on Wednesday, April 24th, we will be presenting all the projects from the graduating classes at the Eau Claire Cineplex. We are excited to showcase the hard work and dedication of the students and faculty of the program with an evening of movies, networking, and appreciation for student film.
What We Need
Just as with the film industry itself, screenings such as this come with a cost. The Motion Media Society is a new club and as we establish ourselves, we must rely on the community to help us grow. We are asking those who wish to support student film to help us raise $7000 to cover the costs associated with rentals and bookings. This amount is not just for this event either. Our goal is to raise funds beyond what this year’s screening requires. Our hope is to raise enough so that going forward, the Motion Media Society will have the resources to make organizing future screenings that much easier. Your contributions will go a long way toward making this the first of many special and memorable moments for the students who will shape the Albertan film industry for years to come.
