The crew of This Strange Phantasmagoria consists of fourth semester Film and Video Production students at SAIT. Our tight knit team has been working closely for nearly two years and we are ready to finish our time in this program with a bang. The crew on this project are some of the most talented and passionate film makers the SAIT program has to offer, and we are confident that with the right support, we can create something truly special.
Right from the start our team has embraced a good challenge. We want to take advantage of everything the program has available to us. This includes choosing projects that require unique locations, specialty gear, and out of the box thinking. We never pass up an opportunity to try something new, no matter the hurtles or obstacles. This Strange Phantasmagoria has given us the chance to combine many of these skills. Shooting on actual film stock was a goal many of us shared and the experience is one we will all remember for years to come.
As with any artistic endeavour, especially in the film industry, funding can make or break a project. As students, our options for financing are limited, but don’t forget, we love a challenge. Working together we have managed to create innovative ways to keep our costs to a minimum without sacrificing the quality of the project. That being said there are some things we simply cannot think our way out of. The process for developing and scanning film stock is an expensive one. We were very lucky to have some terrific instructors who were able to have our film shipped out and developed right away. All that remains is covering that cost. Compared to other projects, this cost is relatively low and so we hope that through kind donations from the community, we can continue our production journey towards creating a film that we, and those who help support us, can be proud of.
